WWE Cruiserweight Classic – Final Results

Lumpia for all!

Lumpia for all!

Enough can’t be said for TJ Perkins’ big win in Orlando this week. Most of our first exposure to him was as Manik in TNA. After being impressed with his work under the mask, I saw him perform in Reseda, California as a part of PWG. I guess it was just a matter of time before he’d find his way to WWE. Now, he’ll be debuting on RAW this coming Monday as a champion. Crazy.

Major props as well to Gran Metalik for making a name for himself among WWE fans. Both of those guys stood strong and looked amazing as they went over tournament favorites Zack Sabre Jr and Kota Ibushi. So much talent in this thing, and particularly in the final four – I’m glad WWE did this thing the right way, and I’m looking forward to what’s next!

That all said… Who won our bracket challenge? Shout out to the man behind The Steel Cage logo, Danny of 6 for 6 Productions – the only one to pick TJP from the beginning! I’m happy to say I had him in my final four, but my brother went all in, and wisely so. Well done, sir.

The Beast vs The Heath

The Beast vs The Heath

Well, RAW happened.

That said, it’s SummerSlam week, and there’s plenty to talk about! From Sunday’s event itself to Evolve and NXT on Saturday, to the weekly CWC show, New Japan’s G1 Tournament, and beyond… There’s plenty of stuff going on in the world of wrestling, and I think we managed to touch on a lot of it.

A fun discussion this week – give it a listen before you get BBQ sauce all over your hands. You are BBQ’ing for SummerSlam, aren’t you?

What a match. #BothTheseGuys

What a match. #BothTheseGuys

  • Rich Swann def Jason Lee
  • Noam Dar def Gurv Sihra
  • Jack Gallagher def Fabian Aichner
  • Johnny Gargano def Tommaso Ciampa

Rich Swann may no longer come out to Lionel Richie, but I’m glad to see him dancing out to the ring again.. Good on the Orlando audience for the sing-along, regardless! Jason Lee was no slouch, either. Loved this match.

Noam Dar and Gurv Sihra had a decent, though rather uninspired, match. Maybe I expected more, having not seen Dar and being aware of him with his presence in ICW / Progress across the pond. He’s got a second round appearance to show me some more, at least!

How about that Jack Gallagher? Heck of an entertaining match with Fabian Aichner. Great example of the Bryan / Ranallo announce team enhancing the heck out of a match.

And lastly, straight out of Reseda, Gargano vs Ciampa. I’ve got one word for this match: PAIN.
