Podcast Episode 347: The Chop Heard ’round the World

You’ve been hearing it for weeks. Josh’s bachelor party in Austin was to become his funeral. Now we know why.

What was the fate of Josh after taking a hellacious chop from PCO (@PCOQuebecer) at Inspire Pro (@InspireProWres)? Will he be able to watch wrestling and talk about it with his friends, or has he become broken and obsolete?

In all seriousness, this was a pretty big week in pro wrestling. From the success of All In in Chicago to a new King of Trios being crowned… to NEW tag team champions on RAW and plenty of ridiculousness on SmackDown… Oh, and let’s not forget the first set of matches from this year’s Mae Young Classic going live on the WWE Network. So much to talk about…

Podcast Episode 297: Headbutt. Frogsplash.

A few years back, Bill Simmons made reference to modern pro wrestling as “The Reality Era”. I believe WWE is finally learning how to blend the excitement of moments we saw in the last year on Talking Smack with fantastic in-ring action.

From EVERYTHING involved with Cena vs Reigns to most things The Miz touches, as well as Kevin Owens and his interactions with the McMahons on SmackDown – it’s been the most engaging and exciting content on WWE programming in a while. More, please! Except legit headbutts to septuagenarians. We could probably do without that.

This week, we run through RAW, SmackDown, and yes – the Mae Young Classic Finale!

Featuring: ‘The Beast from the Middle East’ Darrell Johnson (@zazzumplop), Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag) and ‘The Mayor of Reseda’ Derek (@cap_kaveman).

Podcast Episode 296: The Four Horsewomen Meet The Four Horsewomen

We made it back, you guys! PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles weekend was a heck of a thing, as per usual. We saw a lot of great wrestling, sweated our asses off, and drank a bunch of Straw-Ber-Ritas. More on that on another episode of the show, though!

In this episode, we talk about the beginning and end of RAW… Mostly because those were the best parts of the show (by far!) and well, we had more Mae Young Classic to talk about.

From Toni Storm to Dakota Kai, Shayna Baszler to Piper Niven, and beyond… The ladies of the WWE MYC impressed us again and again, and we can’t wait to see how it all comes to an end next week after SmackDown Live in Las Vegas. We break down ALL of the action up to this point and preview what’s to come in the final.

Featuring: ‘Hot Podcast Garbage’ Sprung (@jasprung), Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag) and ‘The Mayor of Reseda’ Derek (@cap_kaveman).

Podcast Episode 295: Sign Jazzy Gabert

RAW was solid. SmackDown, not so much.

John Cena is the hero we don’t deserve. Sasha Banks hasn’t lit that fire inside her just yet. The Miz makes great points. Kevin Owens makes even better ones. And of course, it’s a belt, Fandango… not a title.

That pretty much wraps up WWE’s Monday and Tuesday lineup. But wait, there’s more! They also released the first round of the Mae Young Classic to the WWE Network. If you haven’t watched it… what are you waiting for? Spoiler alert: Jazzy Gabert and Abbey Laith steal the show early.

Oh, and also – it’s PWG Battle of Los Angeles week! Keep an eye on our social media presence for updates from Reseda. It’s going to be a good time this weekend!

Featuring: Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag) and ‘The Mayor of Reseda’ Derek (@cap_kaveman).

WWE’s Mae Young Classic – Predictions

My fiance and I just finished watching the ‘Bracketology’ special hosted by Corey Graves and Lita on the WWE Network, and we’re excited to do some binge watching in the coming day or two as the first four episodes drop! If it comes out before RAW goes on the air, I’ll probably watch this instead – but that doesn’t seem like the kind of thing WWE would do. (Update: I stand corrected!)

That said, there’s a ton of amazing talent in this field, and I’m excited to see each of them showcase their abilities. From familiar favorites (Candice Lerae!) to wrestling nerd favorites (Kairi Sane!) to plenty of fresh faces that I haven’t seen but have heard murmurings about…

We each took a few minutes out of our Sunday to fill out our barely educated predictions based on the preview show and what little knowledge I have of the competitors. You can join in on the fun by getting a blank bracket of your own over at WWE.com.

What do you think? Are we taking crazy pills? Or are we onto something? We know they already filmed these weeks ago, but no spoilers! Because, well.. just don’t be a jerk.
