Podcast Episode 140: WWE Raw 2014 Season Premiere

Derek's notes from Raw.

Derek’s notes from Raw.

So, if this week brought us the season premiere of WWE Monday Night Raw, then last season’s finale was pretty much one of the worst finales ever, right? Right.

Well, since this is a new season, might as well start it off the right way! And WWE sure did that, with a lot of action and a fair bit of steel cage shenanigans. Being that it is our namesake, that especially brings joy to this group of wrestling fans.

Hosted By: ‘The Beast from the Middle East’ Darrell Johnson (@zazzumplop)

Featuring: Joshua Schlag (@thesteelcage / @schlizzag), Derek (@cap_kaveman), ‘Dirty Jesus’ Hashtag Billi (@billibhatti), and Sprung (@jasprung)

Podcast Episode 139: John Cena, Still Number One Contender

Maybe the most exciting part of Raw this week.

Maybe the most exciting part of Raw this week.

Raw kicked off with six men in a ring, all with claims to be number one contender. Six men who actually seemed to WANT a shot at Lesnar. How ludicrous is that? But let’s ignore that plot hole (and several others)… What’s the best way to settle things? Book a six man tag to determine who is truly worthy. Makes sense. No wait, it doesn’t. Not in the slightest. What is this? What are we watching? Why are we watching it?

Talk about a holding pattern, folks… It can’t get worse next week, right? We’ll be watching one way or another, like the suckers we are…

PWG’s 2014 BOLA Night Three was a marathon as a wrestling fan – from waiting outside in the blazing sun outside of the American Legion hall, to sitting in a sweatbox for over 5 hours… it wasn’t the greatest way to watch wrestling. Seriously, can we start a Kickstarter to raise money to fix / upgrade the American Legion’s air conditioning system?

ANYWAY, the wrestlers involved in the night’s events put on one heck of a show to close things out, and we saw a lot of interesting storylines unfold. From Roderick Strong’s uber-heel storyline to AJ Styles’ early elimination in the tournament to the Willie Mack NXT send-off, and everything in between…

I don’t want to get too much into the details, because this is something that should be enjoyed from start to finish once the DVD comes out.

Last, but certainly not least… I’d like to post the final standings of our bracket contest. We’ll reach out later this week via email to the winners!
